It was a chicken hen I should have clarified but I disagree with the whole ducks/chickens only lay for a couple years then don't lay at all.See actually it's how many egg cells they were originally born with so one hen may lay 209 eggs in her whole life but then another can lay up to 602(the #s are just random) so it's always going to be a luck of the draw kind of thing no matter the breed.Some breeds are bred to lay more eggs but some can only keep it up for so long some will lay an egg every other day but will lay eggs till she dies of old age.But I still think your girls can lay eggs for a few more years without any severe drop in production and your boys it depends i would keep breeding the males until you notice a lot of unfertile eggs then I would consider taking some action.I hope I made sense my mind is a bit scrambled today so I may have worded stuff weird.
