I think my drake, Duke is so handsome. Young, yes, but with a lot of potential.

Thanks Brenda! I wonder if it depend on the drake then. hmmmm. I will definitly have to watch them buuut since my girls aren't laying yet I have time to make a plan.
Another question: Since this will be the first season for my girls to lay, how long should I wait, or should I say, how large should the eggs be before we let them collect and be set by a broody?
Thanks!

I don't know the answer to that. I let the duck tell me! I gathered the eggs till it was warm out. Then they started to build the nest so I would leave the eggs a lone and sure enough they went broody!

Where can I find 25 black & 25 chocolate ducklings this spring? Looking for solid color birds, at reasonable pricing, will take eggs, but prefer to have the ducklings shipped.
Thanks!

All our muscovies, females and drakes fly very well. They all roost up in the rafters of our large tool shed (we park semi's and combines in there-Tall) They also will fly around our farm. They tend to not fly much higher than 30 feet above the ground. They fly up into our hayloft. I have seen them roosting on top of our barn. It is a huge hip roof barn. They never leave our homestead. They all stick very close to home. They do roost on our vehicles too...my husband really does'nt like that!
We have been dive bombed a few times too, they come in fast when they land.
They are lots of fun.
