Muscovy keepers share your pics!

I have to find homes for 2 of my drakes. I am accepting offers on them. They are very sweet boys, but I have 3 boys and only 1 girl and I don't want to stress her out.

This is "Food". He is about 6 months old

This one is Sprocket, he's about 4 months old.

I'm in Pahrump, NV. If anybody might be interested.
I hope this helps, go to the thread "where am i where are you" and look up NV and see if anyone maybe interested. Hopefully someone close by may want them. They are gorgeous boys.

Argh. I lost my post. I know the lavender stuff except the more in depth stuff. For blue fawn lilac cream and other pretty pastels and blue chocolate combos...ok so I have the cream female already. A lavender male split to chocolate to put back over his mom (chocolate split to lav) to try to get a chocolate male. That's the only pairing I'm sure of. Then I have a blue pied male blue pied female cream pied (no really) female and a black female from a lavender dad and mom chocolate split to lavender.

Who would you put where with what result?

I would keep all your lavender based birds together. The lavender drake with his mom, the cream pied hen and the black hen split to lavender. From this cross you will get lavender, creams, and chocolate and black splits. All birds will either be a variation of lavender or carry lavender.

I would avoid mixing lavender and blue. Blue can mask the lavender gene and mess up the color. You can breed your two blue pieds together for blue, black, silver in pieds and solid birds. You may also get some solid whites as well.

I saw my drake breed one of my young duck hens yesterday, hopefully duck eggs are not that far off!

how old is your hen?

I got my first scovies a year ago from a place where they had not plenty of food so it took longer for them to mature. Now I have 9 scovies that are 4 months old and they are grown up size. I even heard a young drake saying ha ha. can I expect them to mate and lay eggs earlier than my last years' scovies?

You should see mating in the spring, as for eggs mine have always laid at or around 9 months old and they grew up eating great. Maybe mine just take longer to mature.

My hens were hatched in may (so they are about 8 months old now). I hatch most of my ducklings in the spring and they usually start laying late winter, early spring of the following year. Maybe your nine scovys are just bigger than your other ducks? Scovys very a lot size wise. I have some hens that are almost half the size of others.
