Harbor I had three different ages of ducks together... Parents, chicldren and a younger batch. I never keep adults seperated from babies. I have a coop that I put some 1x3 wire in the corner where I feed starter and babies can go if they want ti get away. I have found all the hens will act like motgers and it causes hens to go broody sometimes.

That's awesome that your ducks just do what they are supposed to.  And I just love her color.  It's so pretty.

I have my Muscovy ducklings in a cattle waterer but they are just getting to that awkward and very messy (stinky) stage.  They are still really cute though.  I need to get them all cleaned out today.  And I have kept lone babies or even an injured goose in with my kids before.  When a Roo attacked our goose when she was nothing but a big baby, we kept her and her boyfriend in a bathtub for a week.  She was pretty ripped up and I didn't think she would make it though.  He ripped her neck up pretty bad.  But being swaddled in the tub and with us cleaning her wounds and babying her, she pulled through.  She is the goose in my profile picture.  She is still really friendly.  She cuddles with you whenever you pick her up.

I think she will end up being a great momma goose this Summer.

And any certain age you introduce your ducklings to the adults?

Well I introduce mine at about 3 days old, I make sure my babies imprint on me before I take them out in the big world so that they'll follow me and not get lost or left behind when they're meeting the other ducks

My ducklings were hesitant to bond to me as they were hatched naturally. The people I bought them from noticed them following the momma ducks around but as they had numerous cats, they caught them and then sold them.

They like me now but they acted pretty wild at first.

They will follow me now but with snow on the ground, I am not sure I want them getting chilled. I just put them in the garage. I am going to go out in about an hour and make sure the heat lamp is keeping them warm enough. I was having to turn it off during the day as they were avoiding it.

I may have to bring them back in at night even if they are ok during the day.

I am probably going to have too many drakes. Wish some of you lived closer as I am sure somebody could use a barred drake.

I have a Cochin hen who decided to go broody so I gave her some duck eggs... DON'T DO IT!! It is to cute!! BUT the duck hens court the roosters and avoid the drakes who chase thrm down to breed...

I have never seen that happen with mine and I have been using my cochin and Japanese bantams to hatch ducklings for a couple years now... The ducklings always preferred to be with the ducks once they got big..

@Harborotter go to your state thread I bet you can find someone to take your Muscovy I'd specify not for food if you don't want him eaten. "where am I where are you"

Okay so just an update on Farm, she's doing good. Around christmas i took her to the vet, she's completely healthy just needs warmth and sunshine and she'll be 100% again and this year i hope to breed her since she is the first duckling we hatched or 1 of the 2 first ones ( her sister ruddy passed from some predator probably i dont exactly know ) anyway i want to breed her to my male Orchid, since he's a new color, and to my first chocolate drake Pine. cross your fingers XD

Hi guyss...just wanna ask.,at what age will muscovy juvenile will stop their feather peckinh behavior? mine is 3 month hen..i got 4 that have this behavior..i feed them well, and letting them out for eating the grass too..i kinda feel wanna give up

My uncle had two muscovy ducklings with 7 pekin ducklings. On muscovy was pecking the other. He gave them all to me and they immediately stopped the pecking. I think it's because they had more space at my place. Or because hey had more space in their new sleeping quarters. I can't see any other reason. In both places they had food all the time and plenty of grass outside.
