Muscovy keepers share your pics!

Maybe. Once I packed up extra boys the whole flock calmed down and stayed closer in the yard. Lesson learned. My preet blue one is a boy even though he looks female. But Neptune lets him hang out with him and seems fine with Mercury having the Peking girls so I'm going to try and keep both.

This is my drake. I still need to name him and his girls. Pics of his girls will be coming soon.

How soon after mating do the ducks typically start to lay? I'm still waiting on first eggs from my girls but I've seen active mating going on. Also, my drake and one of the ducks seem to have almost paired off and are always together but my other duck (who was actually hatched along with the drake) seems to be on her own a lot. She joins with them to hang out and nap but a lot of times, when they're free ranging, Cosmo and Cocoa are always together and Ebony is mostly on her own. Is that weird or does Cosmo just have a favorite girl?

These two girls are laying eggs across the road in a beaver dam!

I've been having a hard time getting them in the coop at night and this morning I got up early to check on them and they were flying back. So I went and checked and there were 4 eggs. Hmmm I don't really want to clip wings but I am afraid of the stupid road now. I wish they were like the other ducks and just floated down to the beaver dam.

Offer a tasty treat right before lock up inside the pen or coop. I am afraid your going to loose them to a car. Clipping will keep them from flying but how are you going to keep them from trying to walk across the road. Fencing is the only way to keep them safe when we live close to a busy road.
