Muscovy keepers share your pics!

I had no idea the muscovys in my pond were throw aways, that breaks my heart. Im getting very attached to them for sure. Im going through a 50 lb bag of feed every 2 months now :). I wish momma would come back, i miss her so much. She had 7 ducklings last august i would feed every day until they got old enough and they all left the pond. Im still hoping she'll show up again one day.

There are some muscovy drakes at the Covered Bridge in Elizabethton, TN. 2 years ago I think there were hens. Its always something different. People go down there to feed the wild ducks, so there's always a pile of them there. It would be really cool to get a flock of muscovy down there! Hmmm

Was curious about what everyone's opinion on capturing disowned muscovies? Here in NY, it's usually hard for them to survive the winter, yet people dump them at ponds all the time. I have the space and my own flock but was wondering about the legalities of capturing them?
Careful of diseases that they can give to your flock.
Bless you for trying to help people's cast offs! I don't know why people do these things! They think it okay to just dump something they don't want!

Yup! Quarantine, a worming dose, and maybe some broad range antibiotics as a just in case. That's if I manage to catch them first....

Make friends food goes a long way. I set up a dog X pen down at the river with one side open towards the river every day I would go down and put food first right outside then each day a little further in till it was all the way at the back so they had to go all the way in then once they were in an eating I went and closed the one end up and had my carriers ready went in and picked them up brought them home. These guys were really hungry so it was pretty easy to get mine.

I'll try that! That's a really good idea because I think they're very hungry too. One of the people who took the picture said they were following her really close which was how she got good shots... If only they knew....

Believe me I really think when I brought mine home they were very happy to have someone care for them. I had 1 for close to 12 yrs. I love Muscovy's.

Did people give you a hard time when they saw what you were doing? I once rescued a goose with an injured leg (sent it to one of those wildlife sanctuaries) but I was chasing after it while heavily pregnant, and I'm also Asian so I had some people come up to me to ask what I was doing. I think they thought I had a strange craving or something.

I'm not sure if i shared these pictures here yet or not but I'm going to. We have a battle going on, all over one nest box. Cocoa and Ebony have both worked on padding it up for themselves but my resident broody hen always uses this box to brood. Her last baby is 10-12 weeks old so she's ready to sit again.

Cocoa has since moved on but Ebony tried to take over. There was quite the fight between Ebony and Ana over the box the other day. Both girls came tumbling out and here was the aftermath:

Ana claimed the cushy duck nest for herself and Ebony was stuck wandering around outside. But, tonight, when i closed up the coops, both girls were in the box together again so well see what happens. I will NOT be giving them any real eggs lol

LOL that is funny.

No one knew. The road we live on that runs beside the river doesn't get alot fo traffic. Plus Muscovy's if not in someones yard are considered feral so...I never found out who owned these but the one I had for close to 12 yrs belonged across the river and They had let all their poultry run loose and preds were picking them off and 3 Muscovy drakes and 1 female made it to the river. The female and 2 drakes were killed before I could get them here. I did talk to the ones who owned them they didn't want them. 2X I have rescued ducks from our mountain river.

That is awesome that you would go to such great lengths to rescue the goose and these Muscovy's.
