Well like you I guard them but I use a long bamboo pole to keep the geese at a safe distance and usually they just meander right on pass them now when out walking but I am always ready to step in if My gander especially wants to act like a bully. That depends on time of year too.

Hmm, ok. I just hold or shoe then back usually. I have no geese, just 2 young ganders. The boys love us and view is as their flock/mom/dad but just can't stand the dogs. As long as we're guarding, they usually won't try anything but if we're not guarding the dogs, they go after them.

That can turn nasty fast. I would not let the drakes bite the dogs my gander would bite my med size dog on the butt when she would walk by him well one day Annie had enough and grabbed My gander by the neck thank goodness we never let them be alone because she may have killed him. I had to actually train the geese to leave the dogs alone. They still will try to bully them but I always put a stop to it.

Didn't you say your drakes were just 3 months old?

We are pretty careful with the dogs and bird together- they're always supervised. MY one girl- charlotte seems to always want to mother the ducklings.
But we don't let her get too close just in case.

Our other incident with dog and goose was about 4 yrs ago when we use to let our birds in the back yard [dog yard] and my geese would come to the back door my gander would knock I was on the computer when I heard the racket came into the kitchen to see white feathers all over the floor where my dog had stuck her head out the dog door and grabbed my gander in the chest thankfully just got chest feathers. Needless to say they do not come in the back yard now unless we are out with them.
It can be crazy around here at times.

Yep I am always on guard. Even though they have all grown up together the gander has made enemies of our dogs. Our dachshunds are scared of them so I don't ever have to worry about them going after the geese it's the other way around. lol

Geese are just plain bullies no doubt about it.

Would it be okay to only feed scratch grains to Muscovy ducks during the fall/winter times? Since they won't be laying eggs would it suffice? I have young juvenile Muscovy ducklings that I hatched from @Nyla 's eggs. I have a meal worm farm in my house so I'll always add meal worms to their feed. Would this help?

What all is in the scratch grains?

They will get fat on scratch alone. I would feed an All Flock, scratch is a treat.

What about Producer's Pride 12% Sweet Feed? There is a farm down the street from me. A old man runs it all alone. He has cows, goats, sheep, pigs, and Muscovy ducks. He says he only feeds them Producer's Pride 12% Sweet Feed.

I plan on feeding them layer feed at the end of winter.

Also I seen 50 ducks in a hot tub on youtube, he only feeds the ducks scratch grains only..
