Hey all. Its been months since I've been on. We lost my big daddy Neptune suddenly to a seizure or something last night. He was my first Muscovy and Im pretty upset about it. Trying to fix one of the boys from my last hatch.

The boy on the left had an infection in his leg. Gave him baytril swelling went down and now it looks like the other foot the webbing us gone between two toes. Anyone ever deal with this? I gave him a soak today and moved him to a smallish cage in a quiet corner so I can gage his eating and drinking. I'll try to get pics tomorrow but I've never delt with webbing damage.
Hope everyone is doing well!
I think it may be frostbite, though I never saw it on a duck. I generally leave them be and see how it progresses. It can take month for it all to heal up and for toes to fall off completely. Its bad. I'm not sure what to do. I posted on duck thread too. Here is the foot I noticed was cut.

The skin wasn't sluffing off before the bath yesterday just after. I had no idea how bad it was. This is the foot that had been swollen.

I gave him a cycle of baytril and the swelling went down but its hard now. This is beyond anything I've delt with. Im guessing frostbite? Just not sure how. I did a check on the rest of flock and dont see any but I'll double check tonight when I can get them out of creek. I'm thinking about rubbing coconut oil or Vaseline into them to start?
Dead tissue becomes hard and black. Not much you can do at this point if it is frostbite damage. I don't handle any frostbitten tissue as it can be painful, and potentially can damage more tissue.Thank you. The webbing is so hard. I feel so bad for him.
That's really your decision. I just do nothing, it sounds wrong to do nothing, but it really is about waiting for them to heal. As far as containing him or not, I would do whichever seems to be less stressful on him, as being stressed can interfere with healing.Should I leave him in cage for awhile? Or put Vaseline on it at all.
