Muscovy keepers share your pics!

I too had Muscovy ducklings climb fences, cages, even wood! And they can jump a good amount of inches too! I had a fast make shift brooder made from cardboard boxes because it was a surprise hatch from a mama and it was too cold outside for them + was having a predictor problem. (A Common Grey Squirrel.. Yes you read that right a Squirrel!!)

Well any ways the boxes were a little over a foot tall, and the ducklings all jumped out of it. I came home a few hours later to find the brooder empty. I pulled the brooder away from the wall and there they were, snuggled behind the brooder on the exposed heat pad. It's amazing what they are capable of for such tiny ducklings!

So I will be moving in a couple weeks to a month. I won't be able to bring my Muscovy's with.. We need to get settled into the house first. So if anyone is looking for Muscovy's, PM me!

Oh. How sad. I know how much you love them.

Hi! I'm on my third batch(?) of ducklings, and getting better at seeing the difference in male/female. Took these shots of the biggest male and the smallest female at 9 weeks. Now that's pretty obvious! Thought I'd share them.
The shape of the tail, fan-like in the male and narrow in the female, is that typical and a way to identify them?

Awesom, they are beautiful..

So I've been having the worst of luck/ good luck.
Okay so on May 2nd (the day after my grandpa's passing of 4 years) My father, My 2 year old son, and I were driving to buy a puppy from IL. Not even 30 minutes into the drive we were hit by a Semi that smashed us into a concrete barrier. My son was on the side the Semi hit. None of us were harmed!! My father and I have pains all over and had glass in our skin but nothing too bad. My son on the other hand had NOT a single piece of glass on him and was not hurt. He was a sleep the entire time of the crash. He didn't wake up till I was grabbing him out of his car seat! (Bad Luck but amazingly Blessed!)

More things happened that day! When we got home late that day after being released from the crash, one of my incubator light bulbs had blown out and it was hatch day. Only one duckling managed to hatch. I named Her Miracle. She is a chocolate pied female Muscovy. There was 38 eggs. 22 had pipped externally and the rest died in shell. I have one egg remaining a live and has about 1 week left before hatching.
I will try to get pictures of her soon! (Bad luck on hatch, but good luck on one hatching)

More good news is We got our new house! We put the down deposit on it on My Hubby's Birthday on the 11th! But bad news is I can't bring all my Muscovy's! I have to sell most of them and only keep one breeding flock of 1 male and 6 females. Reason is because Our new home doesn't have as much land and doesn't have a pond or lake so I have to use kiddie pools. And since my Muscovy's are all adults I will need to pen them up so they don't fly away trying to get back to our old home. More bad news is we won't be able to move in till they have our new home cleaned out. It's packed... And needs a lot of work done to it to make it livable!
But better news on this is that I have more time to say good by to my babies!
Here is what the inside looks like currently! The man in the pictures is my Father-In-Law. Sorry!

Has everyone recovered from the crash?
That's great news about the house.
Have you found homes for most of your muscovies yet? Yay for Miracle. Will you be keeping her?
