What fantastic pictures.

Because of YOU, Keeper, I had to grab a little barred 4 week old girl back in July. Thanks for the inspiration!

And I know I do owe pics. Been wanting them all to grow up a bit more...........

Thanks John. And your welcome. Some mutual inspiraton on the BYC.

I take it your Scovies are in molt right now and looking pretty scruffy? I am thinking that is why we aren't seeing many pic's posted, Scovy wise.
I'm finding the various stages of development in Scovies physically & socially is facinating. We've been blessed, or at least I have, with some time now and again to watch & study them. Frankly, I would love to see some pic's of other's Scovies going through various stages of growth.
I will be looking forward to seeing your pic's posted as I'm sure you are going to have some very nice looking Scovies.

Here she is John,

I like the way her feathering still retains that light edge of white barring.

I haven't noticed any real change in the last month but she hasn't molted out this fall yet.
One of my other broodies, Arwen, who is a blue w/dark head and brown lacing on her feathers is now showing indications of white head also. My drake, Duke, who was all black began his molt about 1 month ago and now has white flight feathers and is showing some small white spotting under his bill.

It will be interesting to see if those spots increase over time.
By the way, so far I haven't seen Dukes gypsy mask manifest as distinctly in any of his offspring. They may be too young yet to tell if the black carnucling that IS present at this time will continue to develop or basically dissapear as the red manifests. I did notice that the offspring that appear the most "wild type" have more black showing in the carnuling that they do have. At first I thought it might be sex linked to the drakes but a few of the black girls are showing signs of more black carnucling also.

Barb, thank you very much! She is so lovely!!

And I just love the little babies--they add so much to that fine pic. you took. I esp. like that little one with her/his bill in mommy's feathers.

Charlotte really is pretty--and such a neat 'change'.

I've been thinking about Duke as I have the perfect mate for him. This girl has a blacker face than all the other girls here. I wonder if she will end up as a 'Gypsy'. She is only 14 wks. old, but the little caruncling there is is def. much blacker than the other girls'.

Yet she is not a Wild Type, but rather 'Black'/Atipico.

BTW, tx for the info. about the gypsy mask being passed down/not being passed down from Duke.

Thank you, Bleenie for the lovely photos. Boy, Freeb was a lovely little guy.

ETA: And by the bill colors on Charlotte's babies, I see you have more Barreds!!!

Lovin' the pics of everyons' scovies! I was pretty bummed to find out my Quackmire was a muscovy, but as I watch him grow, (in appearance, and personality) they are really starting to grow on me.

This is him, now, almost 10 weeks old. I'm surprised he doesn't have the start of any carunkles, as I thought he should be getting that by now.....

He loves playing with the other housepets, especially the dogs, and Stretch, our foster cat....

And he's a TERRIBLE beggar. If you have food, he must be fed. Or else he will tug at your pant legs until you acknowledge him. If you're not wearing long pants, your leg skin will work just fine.... (OUCH!)
