Thank You...
The two darker colored ones in the 2nd picture are black. All 5 of those ducks are out of the same hatch. The Hen duck was a Broken Chocolate ( Chocolate and White ) and the Drake was a Black.
I have to go on a "duck round up" here and go through all the Muscovy ducks to see what stays and what gos.. ( I think we have around 25-30 young ) I know I have some broken colored Muscovy that I have to get rid of.
I also have some laced ones that I don't think that I will keep. The laced ones are full Muscovy and not mules...

To be quite honest I have always thought she was black.... I will have to wait until she comes here again before I can check her out as she is nesting amongst a "bonfire" of fallen trees at the moment, and only comes over here when she is really hungry. She has never been super freindly as she just turned up out of the blue when we got our first lot of Scovies a couple of years ago and has stayed ever since now she has "friends" here.

I am looking forward to seeing the pics of your mamma duck

Cheekychick,
That is so nice that your girl found friends there and made her home with you. It will be exciting to see how many ducklings she brings home.

Here are a few pic's of our blue draklets mom, Arwen. She's still in molt but is finally growing her flight feathers back in. As low as she now rides near the ground I doubt she will fly any BUT I noticed that once Gwen, another of our breeding hens, grew her flight feathers back in she became much more confident and outgoing in her personality. I guess just being able to flap those wings and keep balanced makes them feel much more "the thing!"

Arwen, when we first brought her home late last winter.

Heavy in the stearn after two clutches this summer. She may also be developing "white head". We will just see how far along the white goes over the next few molts.

The blue draklets father was our black drake, Duke, who we sold last night.
We will keep our blue boy as next years breeder drake so it's time to think up a name for him.

We have no name for ours, we just call her the wild one

I saw our "wild" muscovy fly across the paddock, over the pond and up to her nest this morning as I was walking to the cowshed - She looked so beautiful in flight

I may go have a peek at her nest sometime over the next couple of days if I dont see her again ..... she shouldnt be too far off hatching now.

Well I finally got a picture of this hen and her clutch of ducklings. ( I think there is 14 of them )
8 light chocolate, 2 dark chocolate and 4 black/white they are around a week and a half old..
This old hen is on a role this year. This is her 4th. hatch of no less that 10 ducklings per hatch this year.

She get mean when she has a clutch of ducklings.. Believe it or not she was bread to a solid black drake.. If you look in the first picture and the feathers that look faded or sun bleached are chocolate.. Even after a good molt she is that color. I had 9 hatches this year from 4 hens and I didn't get 1 chocolate drake. I hope that this hatch I get 1... LOL
