Muscovy laying to early

Thanks for the advice I wiped off the egg that got hit the worst but I can't see too much on the other eggs. Might have gotten lucky. I saw her removing bedding when i got home. Do they clean there nests?
They work on them don't know about cleaning them. one of mine has her nest so deep she has gathered shaving from the other side of her stall to make it higher.

I would say you are right she took probably an entire bale of straw into her nest box (which is only about a foot cubed) lol
And I'm only on day 18ish

I went out this mourning to feed the ducks and noticed that there was an Oder coming from the nest box. It was the old broody poop so i pulled out the duck, and wiped down all 14 of her eggs and changed the nest materials. I feel a little better about it now that there clean-ish. I say ish because a few of the eggs are still heavily soiled with crusty poop but it is too dried on to safely remove. One of the eggs was cracked so we are down to thirteen which is still more then i thought i had.
Anyways that is the update this far.

Oh for heaven's sake, if it's too early in the year to brood eggs, just eat the eggs as she lays them and let her sit when the weather warms up! We usually take the eggs for eating, but a couple of times a year we let the ducks hatch out a clutch.

OF COURSE you don't want to eat the ones she has already been sitting on, in case an embryo is developing. Yuck!
