Muscovy mating without the duck laying?

I got a Muscovy duck that I adopted. She was at an acquaintance's house in the middle of town and I brought her out to my land. I've had her about a month. I have no clue how old she is and she's not laying that I know of. The male we just got is only 6 months old. When we put them together he was I believe mating. He was on top of her and holding her head down by biting her. There's all kinds of white feathers under the cage right now. If he is trying to mate with her will that make her start laying?

Changes in the daylength will initiate laying - as the days become longer she will start to lay. The mating will only assure fertile eggs. Any possibility that she has a hidden nest? Muscovies are great at that.

Yeah she could have. Now both of them are in the pen with my chickens cause there's been a dog coming around. It's already killed one of my other ducks and some chickens.
