muscovy... OMG it hurts

My hen hurt my leg with her wings one day. I was stealing her babies though so I deserved the beating I got from her wings.

My drake looked like that right before his molt. He normally is a veryy beautiful drake with nice shiny feathers and not torn up feathers but the week before his molt started he looked really ragged lookin'

You'll be surprised at how nice he will be looking after his molt. Nice and glossy.

Muscovies have less oil gland activiity than other ducks soooo do have a tendancy to get waterlogged rather quickly. You will see them preening quiet a bit to keep up their feather quality, esp. once they molt out.

My three older drakes are all pied like yours. They are in various stages of molting right now.

Pied! that's what he is. I was so worried about him. By the time he put himself to bed he wasn't shivering anymore. We (read my husband) are growing quite attached to him. It's funny how he's the one always telling me we can't have anymore but as soon as I talk about getting rid of one, he suddenly likes that one the most.

I have quite a few Muscovy scars, they are big and powerful. Like the others have said get a net to catch them. Once you catch them you can hold them by the wings and they can't get the claws into you. Hold the wings right beside the body and it's easy to control them.
