Muscovy owners please help!!

I have never owned a pet before in my entire life. Growing up I had a dog but she was not an animal that craved human attention. I never had a second thought about the big issues surrounding treatment of animals. Since owning this beautiful duck I have found myself taking interest in animal cruelty and even cut back my meat intake by at least half. This **** duck has totally changed my outlook on life. Imagining this little thing in pain has driven me to the point that eating poultry makes me so sad. I can't express enough how amazing these animals are when they imprint on you. I will raise ducks for the rest of my life. Oh and we found out she is definitely a girl.

Congrats on the enlightenment your soft puff is a girl. I love how you have really embraced her and what she represents. I understand the meat thing. I eat it but have to completely not go there in my mind as to how it's prepared. I don't hunt game but have to admit it's a more humane way to get it compared to mass produced store meats. I have always loved birds and this forum here has indulged me beyond my greatest expectations. Ducks and geese are not a mainstream pet here in the states so it is absolutely wonderful to meet others who are so passionate about them.

Lol.. I'm glad you both feel the way, I thought it was just me. I haven't even been able to eat eggs since I've got my ducks. And I used to love meat now I have trouble eating it, my mind wanders too much!!

Ya. Totally. It isn't easy. The other day one of my girlfriends said her parents were duck hunting and I internally cringed. Can't pass judgment. Even she doesn't care for it. Ok. Case closed. Move on. Don't think.
