Mushing

My dogs are outside all day everyday.  Rain, shine, heat, snow.  I think because they are exposed to it, they acclimate very well.  They do come in at night because I can't stand to listen to them barking at the nightlife, BUT they have a cool place to sleep and my furnace is set down at 60 degrees at night.  Many times I have had my irish setter almost solid icicles, but still excited to stay outside and play with me.  My lab stayed outside also, but she was pretty old and arthritic, so she slept in the insulated doghouse most of the day.

My dogs as well stay outside all the time. At one time I built floor less houses to placed atop a mound of dirt that I would hollow a nest into then fill with straw and pine or spruce sprigs. I would even go so far as to staple a piece of denim or canvas over the doorway.
Now I make these "lavish" dog mansions with a small sleeping quarters, a landing and a "3 sides enclosed" shaded area large enough for them to stretch out in.
It's all an exercise in futility. They dig holes to lay in summer and sleep on top their houses through -40 -50 blizzards.
But at least the bleeding hearts that come to "visit" me recognize my efforts to accommodate my dogs "needs".
God bless my dogs. They are so cool...... ......and tough.... .....and hardworking.... ....and happy....and friendly....and....and...and...
LOL. I'm having a late lunch so I'm taking time to chat.... and kinda rambling to eh.

My dogs have HUGE houses right now. It's big so 2 dogs and fit in and snuggle lol.

On Irish Setters.
Crazy hyper dogs. Run till their heart jumps outa their mouth. Loyal too. And down right pretty. At least the few I knew.
But their coat isn't made for the weather and other conditions in my world.
Another dog breed that because I love them so much I will never subject them to the rigours of my world.

They're pretty dogs. I want 1 or 2.

Awww. My dogs bark at night too.

My dogs very seldom bark. We've been here a long time and most of the wildlife gives a wide birth to the area. There is the odd stray cat or occasional bear, perhaps a wayward raccoon or mink from time to time.
My dogs howl quite a bit though.
It used to be only about 1/2 hr after eating and again about midnight and around 4or5AM everyday. But now we live closer to the highway and the ambulances, cop cars and fire truck sirens get them going sometimes 8 or 10 times a day. But thank goodness sometimes it is only 3 times a day.
I personally don't mind it but far too many people are just all too ready to jump at any reason to complain about something and my dogs are "the pet peeve". Hahaha. PET peeve.
Awww. Poor people. They can't even look after themselves and they're jealous because I can look after a wife, 6 offspring and 6 grandchildren as well as 16 dogs, 2 horses, 2 geese, 12 ducks, 5 turkeys, 30+ chickens, about 60 rabbits and 133 pigeons, plus mow the the lawn, cut firewood, built kennels and doghouses for myself and other people, work the community garden, the food bank, hunt, harvest wild edibles and medicines and here those poor souls are having their NHL, NBA or Y&R distracted by howling dogs. Awwww. Poor people.

And....... Awwww Poor me the sun is shining bright and cheery today. Melted all the snow.
Oooooo! Ain't I catty today. Better go back outside and build a doghouse or cut wood or something.

I know right?! when i 1st had Griz, i thought we had a wolf problem!

Haha. One time a Conservation Officer came to my place saying that I needed a Licence to keep a wolf. I told him i didn't any wollves and even if I did his jurisdiction ended at the end of my road. He left in a bit of a huff because he knew I was correct.

haha. Griz was part wolf so his howl was deep and long.

Well now, my day is finally over. I did build 2 dog houses today. Pretty cool looking houses too I might add. Of course all my chores are done as well. Tomorrow I need to brush Bulldozer. His summer fur didn't shed out properly and he's getting a matty little mess at the base of his tail. Wierd, first time I've seen that in my dogs. Never had to brush my dogs till now.
Mind, it has been a wierd summer.
Gtyt all. Touch base 2moro.
