A stump that’s been giving me oysters at work popped out after a rain. I took a ‘less ‘ buggy clump home with me. Soaked it as I saw a few bugs. Got back home after work and the bottom of the water bowl full of dead maggots. Pitched.

It's always such a disappointment when you find delicious mushrooms that are too old or gross to eat! Bug eaten, or waterlogged (slippery jacks are horrid for getting waterlogged), or just old and dried out. Always tugs at my heartstrings a little.

I did egg flour with salt pepper and garlic powder then fried Delicious. DH wouldn’t try it, I knew he wouldn’t.

I should add, it was the first time I cooked it myself so if anyone has a suggestion on another way to prepare it I’d like to hear...

I cut it in strips like French fries the fry in real butter with lemon pepper , garlic powder and a little salt .
