wow! looks great!!Today's haul - some Leccinum (first row), Boletus in the center, two clumps of Ramaria Aurea (Golden Corral) - on the left and bunch of Chanterells. We had couple cooler nights, just couple degrees above freezing mark but luckily, no frost yet. Today was very nice and warm. Perfect day for a stroll in a woods. Also, managed to get the rest of a Chaga clump from White Birch tree. What I found strange is that there are still spots with blueberries and black currant to be found. A bit late for them, you'd think.

I've used dehydrated mushrooms in soups to make a "mushroom stock" and then later adding them back in with fresh mushrooms, greens and other delicious goodies. Perhaps they could be used in that as well?A word to the wise....
Chicken of the woods Jerky is a bust. I followed the recipe (kind of) and the taste while not bad is not good. The problems is the second dehydrating. The COW is extremely hard. It is brittle and dry. It is not chewy.
Maybe if we just sucked on a piece all day it would be ok, but it is not that kind of flavor.
I am thinking of using it in a hot dish or in sloppy joes. It might work as a seasoning if I knew where to use that seasoning. Other wise it was a waste of good COW.
OH and I am in trouble with the WWD again.....
She keeps checking Amazon to see what I have bought "today" to use her word........ She banned me from buying any more mushroom books about 2 weeks ago. She thought, wrongly, I had enough mushroom books. Well, she found the one I ordered the other day in the Amazon orders. She did not buy the reasoning behind it at all. It is a book on Mushrooms of the upper Midwest, it is a relatively small book which I can take with me while foraging.
She is so unreasonable at times.
The top photo is poisonous..
The bottom might be a kind of puffball, so tasty good eating.
The bottom ones you need to pick them, and slice open, if they are pure white all of the way through... (No ghost image of a mushroom), then they are the good to eat puffballs.
