Mushroom foragers

I saw a Pioneer Press blurb on morels in the metro right before the cooler weather, Ralphie. So we need some warmer days obviously. Just a few...and we'll be picking. Hopefully.

Nothing the other day when I went out, I saw a guy in the barber shop that had been out just before the cold hit again and he found nothing either.

I assume this set us back 3-4 days

Wife says she's fine with me throwing it at her....

As long as she gets to hit me with a hammer first.

I used the oak tree it was next to. Did not break up much at all.
Woohoo! The test works!

Science in action...

I saw on the facebook pages a lot of Morels were found around here yesterday.

So being a day late and a dollar short I am going looking this morning..

"The Book" says people lie about where morels are and the elms and ash are not the only place to look for them...This is going to make it harder. It even said they grow on the edge of pines...Oh boy...

I needed something to help me narrow the search not enlarge it.

BTW the morel map showed one in Palisades about 10 days ago..I am having a hard time believing that one. They had snow still then didn't they BC?

If it helps any mine were found in a predominantly oak area. There are pines as well but 200 feet away. We also have a weed tree called California Buckeye and it's in this section of morels as well.

The map guide you posted didn't have any spots found this far south in California, at least when I checked last week. They must have loved the record rains we received this year.

There is one more coming but it's getting too dry here now should I cover it with a plastic cup to give it a more moist environment?
