Mushroom foragers

Those are growing out from under the boxes for my square foot garden area. I took the pictures in June but I just found them again. They are called "brown cup mushroom " but I can not find anything that says if they are edible or not.

They are growing in a medium of very old horse manure and old wood chips. Not mulch but branches we cut down and sent through the wood chipper. Oh and old rotted chicken bedding (and it's obvious contents).

The WWD is home from the hospital. Life might get back to normal. She is not listening and taking it as easy as I want her too!


I am making her beef veggies soup for supper, which I will have some of. This will be my entrée. She will not get any. She has to be on mellow easy food. so this is ALL Mine!





I have not picked this yet, I also picked a few puffballs this morning.

That is chicken of the woods.

It was great, I fried it up in butter with onions. It was our entrée tonight. We have enough left for eggs in the morning and maybe for noon. My niece is coming so I will freak her out with wild mushrooms.

Unless I was wrong and it was not chicken of the woods and don't see the sunrise.

Great News!

It appears I was not wrong, I think I am alive this morning, if my hypothesis is correct, the mushroom was safe to eat. I will know for sure when the WWD wakes up and if she can see and converse with me.

Right now I think there is over a 90% chance I survived eating another wild mushroom.

BTW if I am correct the left over mushroom is going to become wild rice pilaf. Wild rice is one of my favorite foods mixed with wild mushroom, I am thinking it will taste like heaven.

I haven't been know to see dead people yet, but that remains to be seen, lol, Glad your WWD is better and hope she sees you this morning, mmmmm that sounds really good, I like wild rice too, I finally got my DH to like it.
