Mushroom foragers

Well as long as we're sharing food pics here's one I did yesterday and it's making a fine Sunday morning bfast.

Combs Tooth Quiche
-5 medium spuds
-1 lb of combs tooth shroom
-9 eggs (thanks ladies)\
-1/2 cup of bacon grease
-2 tblsp of olive oil
-5 pieces of pepper jack cheese

Yum!

I went and got "some" of that chicken I told you was 50# in the tree. I would like to revise my numbers to in excess of 100#.


I could only reach 2 "leaf's of it with the little step stool I brought with, I doubt I have a ladder to reach it all.

Here is my two leafs:






I doubt this is even 1/10th of what is there.

you can eat the whole mushroom, see people would think that is just some yecky growth, I went out in the woods by a stream and I realized it's mostly pine trees, but I did get some water cress that was yummy in my salad last night, so I need to find some hardwoods

It looks like a Laccaria orchropurpurea or Purple-gilled Laccaria.

It is edible but not a "prime" or choice mushroom. All lookalikes are Laccaria family but Laccaria orchropurpurea has a white spore print.

Today's haul - the rest of Hedgehog, a few Leccinum in a front line and couple small Boletes in the center.
