This is why I will never live within city limits or anyplace with covenants. Are there any procedures in place for changing the rules? Can you and your other neighbors vote on it? I say rehome the chickens for now, but fight it and change the rules. That way you can use that nice coop and enjoy your hobby. If the one neighbor is such a pita, the other neighbors probably dislike him too. Get together and change the rules for the better.
Depends on your HOA and how well your connected to people. If your neighboor is a nuisance their really not much you can do about it except fight fire with fire. Get the Deed restrictions out and go throught line by line until you catch him on something.
They are welcome to come live out their lives free ranging on our farm with all of our chickens, ducks, peacocks, goats, cats and dogs. Everyone loves one another and it's a peaceful place to be. We're two hours from Lafayette which I think is 3 hours from Houston. Might could even talk our kids in Lafayette into meeting you and bringing them here. They owe us a vist anyway. I've taken in other people's chickens and roos before.
Wow, this group is amazing, isn't it? I was really worried that you'd have a hard time finding a home for them, but you have offers out the wazoo...LOL.
Thank you, forum. Thank you for the offers to help. I am in the process of determining a possible home for the girls. My main concern is pet status. Again, these chickens have been raised as pets, and have been treated very well. I am absolutely full of gratitude at the offers of help. Because of the wonderful people at BYC, the girls will surely find a happy home.
