MUST you tip the loaders at the feed store?

Lazy J Farms Feed & Hay :

What the Heck is this all about?!?!?!?!?!

Tipping feed loaders, now I have heard it all!!!!!

Heck I have customers that complain that I was 15 minutes late when I deliver feed to them FREE OF CHARGE.

I am afraid my days of free delivery are over. We are going to a $25 delivery charge just to cover our labor and fuel costs.

Jim

So... are you suggesting that we need to... or...

Because the 50# bags are very heavy...AND BECAUSE..these folks are usually VERY YOUNG and not accustomed to lifting things that may weigh as much as 1/3 or 1/4 their own body weight, I take THAT in consideration in my decision whether "to tip or not to tip" , which is the question.

What do I do ?

Well, I usually tip $100.00 bill.

But, sometimes, I don't have that kind of "change"; So, I just give them a $100.00 I.O.U. (but I don't sign it).

Other times, because my back is bad, IF I see a dime laying on the pavement, I ask them if they would pick up my dime for me. (It is a nice thing to do for me!) Then I offer them 1/2 of the dime and reach in my pocket for a nickel.....But, usually, they are gone by that time.

So, I try to keep in mind what they look like for my NEXT VISIT, so I can give them that nickel. But, my memory for faces is NOT GOOD.

I know they LIKE to see ME come around because everytime I go there they are always laughing and very busy and smiling at me.

AND they are always courteous enough to NOT BOTHER ME when I'm looking at various feed labels!

I KNOW that they appreciate my business! I know that because they always look disappointed when the "Boss" carries out my feed himself !

They are ALWAYS busy when I go there!

It must be hard to work in a Feed Store. There is always work to do even if the parking lot is empty!

Huh ... never even crossed my mind. I used to be in a "tips appreciated" profession (dog grooming) so should think of things like that, but never have. As it is, I cannot afford to tip the loaders either (and half the time my degenerative disk diseased back loads my feed or I would be there all day waiting for them to come from wherever it is they hide).

Wow never heard of that........... or thought of it and frankly now it is just one more thing I have to wonder about.....should I or shouldn't I............umm nah not gonna happen.

The worst thing would be to start tipping then stop.

I really do not understand tipping unless its a waiter/waitress. What are they going to do, spit in your feed?

Someone told me I was uncouth because I didn't tip my barber.

Junkmanme is ha ha.
