MUTANT Egg! Holy painful event!

I don't know which of my hens gave birth to THIS thing today, but it HAD to hurt. What in the world could the problem have been? Too much oyster shell? Ever seen anything like it? I wouldn't blame her for going on strike! Owie!!!

I must say though, I'm fascinated by the fact that it is FLAT on one side. Impressive in a twisted way.

Our Rhode Island Red had laid the same type of egg also ..I wondered if it was becase she was getting older and near the end of her egg laying career
