If you want the Runners that look like bowling pins on legs, you must buy from a serious show and hobby breeder (or Holderread, who counts as a show breeder). The hatchery Runners simply look like mutts with a bit of Runner blood in them.

Your ducks are very pretty and they will make very nice pets. If you want real runners, or if you intend to breed them, then buy some SOP runners. Tons of people breed them and they are readily available. Just ask where the breeder's stock came from because there are people out there who buy hatchery stock and breed it and call themselves "breeders". All those guys are selling is hatchery quality.

Those don't look like mutts to me! They look like pure bred layer quality runners. I have a few of them in my flock.

Thanks for your replys everyone! I'm happy to hear that my ducks are actually Runners.
I don't plan to show or breed them again, and I still think they are much more useful than the wine-bottle-shaped Runners other people show. I will still call them Mutt-ducks, just because I like the way the word sounds. Say it out loud some time. "Mutt-ducks"
