So after a long period of thinking I have come up with something great to say for my 1000th post.
I will start by listing the things I have learned to do since joining BYC
How to feed chickens
What not to feed chickens
What breed of chickens are out there
How to incubate chickens
How to save chickens from an incubation gone wrong
How to do emergency treatment on little chicks
How to do crop surgery
How to treat bumblefood
How to deworm chickens
How to treat for parasites
How to forcefeed chickens
How to feed raccoons
How to build nesting boxes
How to build brooders
How to build chicken runs
How to process chickens
How to cook chicken
How to drive a car on 2 wheels (kudos Rebelcowboy!)
Last but not least I must thank my friend Joni for she has been helping me with wonderful advise on most of the issues above. She is a great person and deserves the utmost respect and love for her kind nature.
And in the spirit of one of my favorite Stargate Episodes (Heroes, part 2) , I will finish my post by listing the animals that all of your good advice helped save and that wouldnt be here today if it werent for you:
Tarzan the crop surgery chicken
Leonid the aggressive rooster that changed his attitude and was spared the spot in the crockpot
Crowsly the injured crow
Kitteh, the little kitten saved from the heating duct
Lil dude, my little runt chick
8 roosters and 2 hens from the incubator being turned off by cats during hatching and me having to birth them under the shower after being shrink-wrapped
Captain Kirk the chicken who had a stroke (She has passed since )
Wyatt and Morgan, the 2 orphan raccoons
4 more chickens who did not make it but whom I tried to save and then euthanized humanely after learning how to do so on here so at least their suffering was over with
8 lucky chicks who survived out of an order of 20 chicks from a questionable hatchery who I believe has since then been shut down by authorities thanks to all of your advice. Nobody ever helped on finding out exactly what the disease as but they made it and are growing strongly.
