My 1st Time - Total Chicken Newbie - **1st Chick!!!!!!!!

I am soooo excited!!!!!

It is only Day 19! I purchased 2 groups of eggs that I thought would arrive at the same time. However, one order was very delayed. So my solution was to make a homemade hatcher which I have been soooo scared about!!! In the hatcher are 2 Orpingtons, 5 Welsummers, 4 Coronation/Light Sussex, 3 Blue Laced Red Wyandottes, and 2 French Black Copper Marans!!!! 16 out of 20 made it this far and the other 4 were totally clear. I am so nervous and excited!! Wish me luck!!!!!!!!

hey me too! i've got 2 on day 19, just found them.

this is my second hatch, but its still just as exciting! last time i only had 2 hatch. we can be hatching buddies, lol!

i have 15 and i bought them for $8 from a backyard breeder after my temperature went crazy last time and only 2 hatched. I fixed it and needed some 'test' eggs that i wouldn't get attached too, so all i know is they are mixes of just about everything! lol. The 2 with pips are a maran x and a EE x of some sort, lots of bantams in there too. my frizzled bantam cochin started laying fertile eggs this week and she's bred to my white silkie rooster, so i want this incubator EMPTY!!!! I want to fill it with her eggs, and my standard cochin should start laying soon and she's also in with the silkie... then i've got my golden comet hen in with the brahmaXgolden laced wyandotte roo that are the parents of the 2 chicks i've got now....

I am jealous of your cochins! My next group to hatch were supposed to be LF cochins of all different colors. But only 1 is developing!!!! I contacted the seller and they immediately refunded me, which is nice. But I'm really sad still. I also have 7 Ameraucana eggs from MissD'Uccle here that are all looking great that I'm so excited about!!! They are only on Day 9. Well keep checking in!! I am going to attempt to get a little sleep. Luckily (

) I have an infant who gets me up all night every couple of hours so I'll be able to keep an eye on progress!!!!! Good luck!!!!!!!!!!

WOW!!!

One of my BLRWs just pipped, too!!! So hard that a bit of beak stuck out for probably a whole minute!!!! Strong little thing! I cannot believe it!!! This is amazing. Haha, I said I was going to sleep, didn't I!?!?

haha! well i'm a college student, so i've got LOTS to do all night if i want to stay up... i think they went to sleep though, nothing's happened, no chirping or anything for a while now. i have class tomorrow morning so i'm sure they'll hatch then...

my first one to ever hatched hatched in the 2 hours i was gone riding my horse. i left, nothing, at all. came back 2 hours later to a FLUFFY chick, and then her brother pipped and hatched within 30 minutes... i was spoiled with them i guess.
