I have a standard 6 chicken coop with 2 nesting boxes and a small run and I let my chickens out throughout the days. I have 3 blue andlusian and 2 barred rock. The barred rock are great they come up to me to pet them and are super friendly and always go back in the coop at night. The other 3 are just very unfriendly not nice to my other barred rock and they will not sleep in the coop anymore. They ho into the trees near me. I clipped their wings and nothing has changed because they only need to hop to get into the trees, Am I doing something wrong or is it just these 2 breeds? Thanks Guys.

I have a barred rock. She is one of 7 different breeds of chicken. I like variety. She is by far the friendliest most even tempered bird. She is also very curious and is normally the first one to investigate anything new. It seems like Plymouth Barred Rocks have those characteristics in general.

I haven't had Andalusians, but from what you describe, it sounds like a breed thing.

With them insisting on roosting outside, something will probably eat them, and then you can pick out a friendlier chicken. If you don't want to loose them....then I guess you need to have them only in a predator proof run.
