They are 1 year old they are 7 pounds each . I lowered the roost to 14" but they still dont like it so today I lowered it to 10" . their house is about 3 feet high off the ground so its not like they are close to the earth or anything but lets see if 10 inches will suit them now? its only a 4x4 house but theres only the 2 birds sharing it so its not a crowding problem or anything. the roost is a 2x4 sanded nice and smooth with the 3.5 inch side up . I think maybe they didnt like it because I used to hear a 'thud' when they jumped off it and perhaps it was just a hard landing for a heavier bird? and maybe when they jumped down they crashed into the wall? Hoping the 10" will work they hardly have to jump at all...

I have an Orp and two Brahmas. The two Brahmas go thud when they hop from the roost. I do also have a ramp and the Orp prefers it to hopping. My roost is about 30” (part of a poop board setup). I do have more floor space, than you, to allow them more room to land.

WoW I didn’t think of that. I could probably fashion a small ramp and put it in there for them. What a great idea. Thank you so much.
