Hi everyone!

My three day old chick is really struggling to walk. It just stumbles and falls everywhere, and I don’t know what’s wrong! One leg seems weak, and kind of goes out sidewise from its body just a little bit. It is always leaning left. It can sometimes stand, but usually falls
Over. Yesterday it got a bit better, but today is worse again.

I have it seperated. It’s a fighter! I really don’t wanna lose this strong girl.

What should I do? What’s wrong with her? Could it be slipped tendon? Splay leg?

Thank you in advance.

If you could add a video or picture of the leg could help😊😊

Could possibly be splayed leg, you can use a bandaid to wrap around the legs, leaving space in the middle, enough so the chick can still walk, and see if that helps at all. I tried to find a pic of some that I've done but I can't seem to find any right now, I'm sure if you look it up on here you'll find many examples.

I had the same problem with one of my silkies last year. I tried to make a brace like boot thing to hold her leg correctly but she never did recover. I know once everyone on here sees this they will have a better answer for you because they have had some success stories with the boot thing. I wish you the best. I will try and find that video of the boot thing for you

If the leg is splayed outwards then you can take a paper straw and a small hair elastic (like the ones the size of a nickel, very small and cheap.)
make a figure 8 with the hair elastic and place it in the straw and gently over the feet, it cured my baby within 2 days

Keep in mind this is if the leg goes out sideways, i dont know if it would work for the front, back, or any other issues.
This is something I found but I will keep looking for video

Thank you all so much for the quick responses! I really appreciate it. I will definitely get some pictures in just a minute, and yes! I am giving her lots of water and some nutridrench every now and then. It ate some chick crumbles earlier too.
