my 3 year old is much darker than the rest of us..

All three of my boys look different. People ask me all the time if they are all mine. I always say Yes and they have the same father too!

My mother taught me to answer stupid questions with
"who wants to know?"
-- oh and P.S. one of my three boys from same father looks like his great grandfather... bears no resemblance to me or his dad- or his brothers. It opened up discussion on genetics, and as a result, the four of us have had some pretty cool conversations about family, genetics, skin color, racism etc.
Be strong.

I would tell them to mind their own business, and I would love to see a pic of your daughter, she sounds beautiful.

My 3 yr old is 25% white 25% pakistani and 50% hispanic She looks much different from my stepkids who look white but are half white and half hispanic. I am half white and half pakistani and people think I am Mexican. lol

Exactly and along the lines of what I would usually say, back in the day. My ex is italian but not terribly dark skinned. My DD however really picked up the italian gene. She's very dark and has black eyes. The only thing she got from me is the stick straight hair.

In my family, all of my female cousins came out light-skinned. The males all came out dark-skinned. My female cousins look like they could be my sisters. People mistake my brother for my husband all the time (

). My boyfriend is often asked if we are twins. I remember one summer we had a cousin from the other side of the family come and swim...she asked "Who is that little indian boy?" I didn't know who she was talking about because we have no native american in us! lol

I told my bf to be prepared when we are married and have our first...we may wind up with a dark-skinned child! lol!

She's adorable! Love her eyes!

[Backtracking, but I forgot to add]
My best friend is adopted. She looks more like her mother than her mothers two ACTUAL children do.

Being rude back is just a road I try not to take. I would handle it in one of these two ways:

A: She's a beautiful little girl! What's fun to do, is, when people ask you something like, "Where did you get her?" You simply ask "Why do you ask?" They will stutter and stammer.....they can't just say yes or no...so it kinda makes them uncomfortable! Then you can watch them squirm......without being rude like they are!

B: My kids look totally different. Nick is nearly 6 feet tall and slender, with dark hair and eyes, and Joe is short and has hazel eyes and sandy blonde hair. I get teased alot, but it doesn't bother me a bit...I just say...."Must have been the milkman....or was it the mail man.....!"

Laughter is the best medicine!
