My 4 month old Frizzle is paralyzed, but still eats and drinks!

Marek's is highly contagious and it is likely that the others would get it, too.

You can try the vitamin therapy. I would use .5 mls poly vi sol, without iron, daily plus 400 ius of Vitamin E twice daily. If you see no improvement or, she gets worse, I would find someone that will do a necropsy. You really need to know if you are dealing with Marek's in order to try and save the rest of your flock.

If you have any more questions about Marek's, feel free to ask. I have way too much experience with Marek's...I've been fighting it for over a year and have lost 40+ chickens.
I have removed her from my flock, but, if it's Marek's, does this mean the others will get it too?

Thanks for the great advice. I'll give that a try and see what happens.

My 4 month old rooster died last night. He had swollen, watery eyes and was congested. We took him to a vet on Monday. He put him on critical care food which we gave thru tube feedings. We tried very hard to save him, and Thursday he started eating on his own again and seemed to be greatly improving. Yesterday morning he took a turn for the worse :(... We have no idea what he died from.

Besides my sick little Frizzle, I still have 1 Barred Rock, 1 Leghorn, 1 New Hamshire, and 2 black Silkies (and I just discovered this morning that one Silkie has sour crop) :(

This has been very tough for me and my husband to deal with. I'm praying for a full recovery for these girls!

I just finished treating my 7 week old silkie with the polyvisol and vitamin B. He had Star gazers. They can't walk well, they stumble, they can't coordinate their head movements. He almost didn't make it, but I kept him separate with a heat lamp on. Fed him polyvisol (no iron) and dissolved vitamin B with a syringe and a little water. I changed his food to non-medicated and mashed it up with water to feed him a little at a time through the syringe. He didn't get better fast but after a week I put him back with the other chicks, but I still kept up with putting polyvisol in the water. I figured it wouldn't hurt the others to get some of the vitamins too. He is completely better, but once a week I put a little poly v in the water. How do you know your silkie has sour crop? What are the symptoms? Do you feed your birds a lot of treats or scraps? Are they eating their food or are they knocking a lot of it out of their feeder? I had a lot of sick birds with some of the same symptoms you're dealing with. I lost one and had to take 2 to the vet before I figured out the problem. The vet told me that the medicated feed we give our birds protects our birds very well from a lot of different diseases so don't automatically think it's something horrible. Especially if your good about giving them a good diet, consistently clean water and a fairly clean coop. In some rare situations and with some specialty birds the medicated feed blocks their ability to absorb the necessary vitamins which can cause neurological problems. If you can give me an idea of how you feed and house the birds maybe we can see why so many of them are unhealthy. After figuring out what I was doing wrong all my birds recovered completely.

I feed them Dumor grower/layer and oyster shell. They also free range in my yard. We give them mealworms for a treat.

My Silkie's chest is swollen and feels like a water balloon. After reading a post, I leaned her forward, rubbed her chest just a little and heard burps and she vommited some. It had a very sour smell. Then I gave her a drink of water.

Is the feed medicated? How do you know the silkie has sour crop? If she does have sour crop stop giving her anything to eat for 24 hours and just give her water with quality apple cider vinegar to drink. Wait until her crop is completely empty (you can feel if the crop is empty) then only feed her plain yogurt and little scrambled eggs, little apple sauce etc... NO feed for at least 3 days than only small amounts with the yogurt etcc.... Stop the feed again if she doesn't have an empty crop by morning each day. Go back to the diet and try the feed again after 2 days. My vet said use a 10 day course of tylan 50 by injection for my other sick birds that had coughing, respiratory issues etc... My birds were not eating their feed, I was giving them to many scraps and they ended up with a pretty serious vitamin e deficiency. After treating the illnesses caused by their bad diet and adding the vitamins they needed to get back on track my birds were 100 percent better, but it took awhile.

Your coop looks great and you definitely have sour crop. Treat her as a mentioned in my last post. Keep her separate and don't let her free range or eat anything other than I wrote about.
