MY 6 YEARS OLD WHITE LEGHORN CHICKEN PET

OMG they are shocking photos! How did you let it get this bad... you mush have seen his feet start to get bad.

You either need to take the chicken to a vet, or put it to sleep.

That chicken is suffering badly and will be in huge amount of pain.

What cage / place are you keeping it? Its got very dirty feathers around it bottom, and its got ammonia burns on its stomach.. from laying in poop... and fungus all over its face from dirty damp conditions.

Did you just get it or have you had it a long time? Maybe this happened at the previous owners place? I hope so!

Sorry. Im only 16years old the ointment is very rare in here. And I just got him in a lottery in August 16,2008 he sleeps on our bathroom when the light of sun is so hot and sleep on is customized bed. Im short on money right now. Cant get him to vet. There is one free consultation in here but in weekdays its 8am-4pm and the schedule of my classes is 7am-4pm ****. Im sorry for not knowing anything about chicken. I thought that it wouldnt hurt him if I just let the strange happenings in his body. NOW I KNOW BUT DONT HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE IN IT. THERES NO CHANCE I WOULD GIVE UP ON HIM :(

I am very sorry for your situration and we all know it's hard to lose a pet. I could mail you the ointment for face , but honestly as hard as it is to hear he is suffering this is why he is not eating and he won't get better unless someone cuts out the infected feet and then if he survived that it would be very hard to keep clean enough not to be infected again and worse. It's not giving up on your friend its part of growing up :-( and helping him . I would try my best to get him to this consultant , start late a day or have a friend take him. Unfortunately there's not much any of us can do to help given the situration :-( and you have to think about him hiw much pain he is in. :-(

I'm a little confused by some of your statments... I hope this is that you are truly seeking help. If he is a friend then you would not want him to suffer as he most defiantly is.

you must start the care that has been given to you through advice !! The ointment for his face and the antibiotics . Roost is basically where he sleeps is he on a perch or floor. But you must find someone if you can't to remove the "core" or corn In his feet as far as I know the antibiotics alone won't heal that. And he should ge getting vitamins or some Gatorade in water at the least to boost his immune system. Good luck
I know how hard it is but I think he has had a good life

I understand you are without an adult for advice and without much money for medicines...but apparently you have money enough to get online, take pics and have oral antibiotics, as well as the ability to afford to feed a "pet" chicken. So, let's start with the basics of care for any good pet owner...if you don't have the funding or knowledge for caring for a pet and that pet is in intractable pain, with conditions that will take some time to clear up and that pet is of an age that is old for that species, the very best you can do for that pet is to give it a quick, humane death.

This is no fairy tale and you are no hero so your statement about not giving up on him is pretty selfish...he needs to be relieved of his pain from poor management of his life and you need to be adult enough to accept that fact. Sorry, but that's the hard realities of life, be it in the Philippines or in the US. Good stewardship of an animal means knowing when to end their lives to end their pain.

You've been given some good advice here and for the sake of your old, suffering bird, I'd take it. There are other, more appropriate pets you will have in your life and this one isn't one of those. Also, you can eat this pet, which will help feed your family, so his life will not have been in vain. He's starving, he's in pain and he's old...kill him before he dies from it all when he succumbs to illness, starvation or shock from the pain. That's the more loving thing to do.

I have to agree with Beekissed. Having pets makes you responsible for them. That responsibility includes ensuring quality of life and not allowing that animal to suffer. Your bird is suffering. If you truly care, you need to help him by either culling him and then feeding your family or another humane method of euthanizing him. That's NOT "giving up on him". That's caring for him. So sorry you have to experience this, but in the long run you can learn and grow from it.
