My 7 week old Barred Rocks want to know...

I'll agree. Pretty girls you have there.

They look just like my BRs that are about that age - and I'm hoping they are pullets, too. My newbie chicken owner gut tells me that they are.

You're not alone in being confused, red sex-links can be confusing! Since they are not a standard breed monitored by the APA, hatcheries use different mixes of the following breeds:

Roosters: New Hampshire Red or Rhode Island Red

Hens: White Rock, Silver Laced Wyandotte, Rhode Island White, Delaware

What you are looking for is a red gene male to breed with a white gene hen.

All the different names are marketing ploys by hatcheries. Instead of just Red Sex-Link, you get romantic stuff like Cinnamon Queen, or Golden Comet.

I just call mine "Silly chickens' when they do something dumb, "stinky chickens" when I'm cleaning the coop, "wonderful chickens" when they lay an egg, etc...

Ha ha, yes, I call my chickens similar things - mostly silly chickens, but when they start laying some new names may come!

I've hatched and raised a lot of both red sexlinks and BRs, and that is a fine-looking group of girls you have there...
