Ok... I am starting a coop. Our local Post Net was moving to a new location and the manager set some "stuff" out behind the store that she wanted to get rid of, being I am a great "recycler" of junk. I said I would take it all!

There was a small cabinet I thought I could put to use as a chicken tractor.

And just yesterday I had a notice on my front door that the city was doing another "Bulky/brush pick up" That means the neighborhood will be putting all the stuff they don't want out on the curbs and it is free for the taking if you get it before the trash pick up.

I am in hog heaven!! or is that "chicken heaven"???

It can't be hog heaven, hogs aren't kosher!

So far it has not been exactly free, I had to buy a new $.40 part for my scroll saw, (a set screw that is lost for some reason!) And a hex key to tighten the set screw for $.59 ... Then I bought some new saw blades... so... today it cost around $9.00 for my "free" chicken tractor.

I am thinking I have the rest of the stuff on hand here to do the job. And with whatever I can scrounge from the neighborhood in the next couple of weeks, I should be all set!!

24 is the most chickens we can have in the city... And whatever would I do with that many eggs?

I really only need two chickens, but I will get 4 just to make sure.... since being on here I see there seems to be a rather high mortality rate for young chickens.

Can you actually have 24 chickens in city limits in Tucson? Wish my little town were that progressive!

Shalom, shalom!! Ma Shlomcha or should it be, Ma Shlomech???

We are EVERYWHERE!! There are lots of us here in the Southwest... Fleeing Spain in 1492! My family came to "The New World/America" in the early 1700's from Portugal via Holland.
