My chicken friends have been telling me horror stories about their roosters attacking them and I found it interesting as I have not had that happen until last week. We have roosters in each coop and while they do bow up from time to time, we have never had one actually trty to spur us. Last week, the birds were out free ranging when a hawk came flying by and made a loud scream, my biggest roo immediately flew at me with spurs up and was absolutely relentless. I fended him off with a leg and he settled for a second before I went on the attack. My wife and kids tell me their sides are still hurting they laughed so hard watching me chase that roo around the yard flapping my arms and grunting at him.
He's been pretty docile ever since and is back to feeding out of my hand.....maybe that worked or it could have been me picking him up and showing him the freezer camp he would visit next time he misbehaved, not sure which....
