My Appleyards Are Hatching!!!!

It's 3 a.m. and I just woke up to peeping. The eggs I got from Duck Keeper are hatching! I'm so excited!! 2 of 4 are out of the egg and drying. I'm waiting on the smaller egg (that we think is a khaki/appleyard cross) and 1 more appleyard. The little egg has a lot of cracks in it and the little fellow is making progress, but the 3rd appleyard egg isn't doing anything yet. (still keeping fingers crossed)

Just thought I'd let you guys know. And thanks Duck Keeper!!!

I just had a broody Call hatch out 7 little fuzzy's for me over the weekend.

Pics are coming of the 1 duckling I have ( and my fast growing mallards). I am kind of sad today. Only the first one hatched and lived. The khaki/ appleyard cross was the one that made it. None of the pure appleyards did. One hatched but then died almost immediately after it hatched. One died while trying to hatch. (and it seemed to be doing ok too so I relaxed and fell asleep... and now I feel guilty and think I should've tried harder to stay awake) and one of the eggs wasn't any good. I didn't do anything different than I did with my last eggs. I guess these things just happen, right? Duck Keeper did say that shipped eggs never do as well.

So.... anyone got any comparable day old ducklings for sale? Moby is so lonely. He likes to snuggle with me and that's kinda cool. But he needs buddies

I am going to try to find some local. I hope it's not too late in the season.

I found the baby some buddies. I found them local and they're khakis. I'm picking them up Friday as well some muscovies.

I'm sad my appleyards didn't make it, but there's always next season.

I'm excited about my muscovies though!

Glad you found some buddies. It can be rough for a solo hatch. I used a mirror and a turkey feather duster taped inside the brooder to keep my duck from being too lonely when I wasn't there. I brooded her with an older duck as soon as she as big enough not to get accidentally squished
