MY BABIES ARE FINALLY HERE!!!

Here are a few pics of my new babies. I picked them up at the post office this morning, and all are healthy and very happy!!

4 Barred Rocks
4 Araucanas
4 New Hampshire
4 RIR
3 SL Wyandotte
2 GL Wyandotte
2 Buff Orps
2 Speckled Sussex
and 1 Golden Comet Roo!!!!

So excited!!

That is a nice mix of chicks. Take lots of pics.

I would recommend you secure that heat lamp by attaching something to the metal ring then attach it to a nail or eye hook screwed into the wood that the clamp is on just in case the clamp gives and the heat lamp ends up in the brooder burning chicks and/or shavings. Or add hardware cloth to the top of the brooder or both.

thanks for the advice about the lamp. I have a chicken wire top that I cover it with when we aren't playing with them!!

I first had 2 lights going, but they all started peeping really loud!! The thermometer was maxed out. (it's digital) they are now at a comfortable 95-98 degrees. They can move to the other side of the box if it gets too hot, but a lot seem to hang out under the light, and some like playing in the shallow water dish.

They all seem pretty healthy and active. I have a question though...
they all bury their faces when they sleep...is this normal? I'm afraid of them suffocating.
