My babies are hatching pics as they arrive!

Just been down to check and a little face poking out :love- I think it is the same chick even though it is in a different spot as the stripes look the same from what I can see on the pics:

So do you guys think it is an Aracuana? :pop:pop

I briefly spotted a 2nd chick earlier - it is pale yellow colour. There is a pic but all you can see is the little back of head at about 1 o'clock :lol:

I hoped for another glimpse when I locked up but she's being a big fluffball and covering them all! Hopefully lots more sightings tomorrow!

OK so I just went down and she was off the nest over 3 of her chicks, another was stuck behind the feeder. I cleared up the broken eggs and there was 1 who had opened the shell but not made it. I opened it and took pics for advice from you guys - will update later. I then put the chicks back in the nest and her as well but the eggs felt cool. I'm not sure if I did the right thing but a 4 out of 9 hatch seems pretty low I am still hoping there may be some hope for the others still in the eggs.

Is there anyway of telling? Should I candle them? Leave well alone? I'm happy I have some gorgeous chicks but so sad for the dead one / s.

So there are 2 of the sripey ones (Aracuanas I'm pretty sure) and a pale yellow one and a pale yellow with grey over the top. No idea what they are! I saw the Australorp egg so I know it isn't that but didn't take note of what the other is (there are 2 blue eggs and 2 others left).

I’m sorry you lost one :(. I would have done the same thing as you. Not sure if it’s the “right” answer, but worth a try! I do know that the eggs my hen left in the second week we’re still cold and I put her back on them and they survived! If she leaves again maybe it’s because of the chicks? Again, not sure if this is the right answer, but maybe try removing the chicks to a brooder and see if she’ll stay with the eggs for another day or so to give them a chance. Hang in there mama!! I’m rooting for you!!:hugs

Makes me feel better I didnt' make a totally bad decision! I just went into nurse mode I think - clear up and get everyone back into their beds :lau:lau

Just back from QiGong and she is still sitting and I saw at least 1 chick before she hid it from me :hmm. I was thinking about it all while at qiGong (I know I'm not supposed to think but I'm not very good at that yet!). I think she left the nest because of the stuck chick. Possibly the other chick died of cold as it was being born as mummy wasn't there? Although I think it's butt looked weird (but don't know what it should look like). Here are some pics the poor little darling:
