Yeah, they are supposed to be excellent layers. I have a friend that has a cake business and honestly, I got them for our entertainment purposes but also to supply her with eggs for baking. I'm hoping things will work out for us when they start to lay.
They are a little on the skinny side so not so good for eating....they are supposed to be stringy, from what I understand.
McMurrays is in Iowa....I live in Virginia so it wasn't too bad. I have also ordered from Meyers (broiler chicks) and they are in Ohio. I got them (the ducks) in 2-3 days and they arrived happy and healthy. I did lose one of the smallest ducks on day 3 but they sent me an extra so I still ended up with ten. She looked like she got separated from the others and got cold, I found her on the far side of the brooder away from the heat lamp when I got up that morning.
As far as what they look like in water.....they look like any other ducks. I have some pics of them in their pool. They stay in there all day.....I have to bribe them with peas to get them out of their pen to free range during the day....we started free ranging yesterday. They are doing better today, hanging out with the chickens and exploring the back yard. They greet me every time I open the back door!
