Recently we just got chickens, they are about 2 - 3 weeks old. I accidentally dropped a piece of wood on one of their foot! I thought it was nothing, but later her foot is swollen and bruised. It's not a huge bruise but I'm worried about her. She is limping and is always standing on one foot. What should I do?

Welcome to BYC, can you post a picture of the foot?

Yes, I will take one rn! Thank you so much for your reply!
Below are a few different shots. Please let me know what you think I should do. (My daughter is in the picture, she is devastated)

Would it be possible for you to take a video of the chick walking, upload it to youtube or Vimeo, then copy and paste the link here?
Unfortunately, I cannot figure out how to post a video. I will try my best to describe it: She's kind of limping like she won't put weight on her injured foot and she will like to hesitate before she puts it down. When she's standing, she's standing on one foot and she is oftentimes sitting down while eating

your chick sounds just like a chicken i had about a month ago. She wasn't bruised or swollen, but she was as you described with walking. What i would do is, separate her from the rest of her buddies so she doesn't get picked on or stressed out. them put her in small space, like a cat or dog kennel to rest. You can put vitamins in her water, i used save a chick electrolytes, and put her water and food with in reach. Just keep an eye on her for the next few days and keep us posted!
Good luck! Avery

Thank you so much for your reply! My chick is bruised and swollen but it isn't too bad. I'm just worried that I broke her foot. It's awesome to have such a great society like BYC!

I will keep you posted! Thanks so much!

I wouldn't worry about it being broken if she is at least kinda putting it down, plus breaks don't usually swell to much. If it doesn't get better soon than you can try wrapping it with some arnica, and I can tell you more about that method if we come to it. But for now, I would just watch her to see if she makes progress!
