My baby laid her first egg

Here she is from behind. She’s a fast little thing.

19 weeks! I was surprised to find one and she hasn’t laid another yet, unless they’re as large as my Ameraucana hens’. I actually wondered if the higher protein and extra vitamins in treats I’ve been giving our ducks (chickens have access) contributed to her laying on the early side. Since the ducks, chicken egg production has been super good and the eggs have been massive with nice thick shells.
