Finally! At exactly 21 weeks, 5 days... we got our first egg!
Well, not first egg ever, but first egg from a pullet we raised from a chick!
Not postitive which one layed it... either my BO or the RIR. They are both my younger girls' pet chickens.
Personally I think it is my 8yo's RIR, Lucky. She is just slightly redder than 5 yo's Shirley Curly (BO) and earlier this week, she's been a touch cranky and bit me a few times.
It figures though.... I've been religiously checking the nest box everyday for the past month. The ONE day that I wasn't home all day and DH had to check, he finds it! It was on the floor, not in the box with the golf balls though. I'll give her a week or 2 to see if she starts using the nest box before I decide whether I need to change anything around. Maybe now the other free loaders will get the idea and start paying some rent.
