My Backyard Shenanigans

Trixie

Trixie is new here, she is a crested cream legbar. We got her a few weeks ago and she is oh so skinny. We are trying to fatten her up so she will start laying. Trixie is of age to lay but her health needs to improve before she will be able to lay. She’s so sweet and she surprised me. As new birds enter the flock they often get picked on and pecked at. My light Brahmas are terrible for this...they are the mean girls. But Trixie, she is not intimidated. She just stands there ... she may take a step or two away, but she doesn’t run or hide. The mean girls quickly lost interest when they found she didn’t run away . It’s less fun for them that way. Trixie soon became accepted in the flock. She’s also been handled a lot and is so easy for the children to catch and pet.
Hopefully she’ll flourish here and we’ll see a nice blue egg from her soon.

If any of you have any ideas or thoughts on how to improve her health, let me know.

She gets primarily layer pellets, oyster shell, grit , and treats of fermented henscratch and table scraps ( which often include scrambled eggs, veggies ).

Thelma and Louise
Thelma and Louise are my two light Brahma girls. They are camera hogs and kinda bossy and mean to the other chickens. They are almost always together. They are savage when it comes to treats... they will nearly peck me to death of I don’t come armed and ready to spoil them. 5D48D777-04DD-4CB3-BD9B-55B25507C295.jpeg F814174D-B135-43AE-8974-5706120791B8.jpeg B5F20033-32A8-4091-B9BA-E541BD3B19B3.jpeg 18DDF265-3514-4562-946B-BA57C9946F7E.jpeg 822E4B91-D29C-456F-A3AE-44ABBB7DF37A.jpeg 7AF0E24A-95DB-4B54-9482-CCD04657BCEB.jpeg A004B2BF-576C-4A7C-B1E5-32CC4A76E070.jpeg 48F5D5BF-1F7E-4A35-96B9-B0A180BE78BD.jpeg
