My "Barred Rocks" that aren't Barred Rocks...*with pics*

Now that they're 6 weeks old they're starting to get a little color. We determined that they aren't BR (thanks all you knowledgable folks!) abd thought maybe they were BSL. I've posted a few pics - are they BSLs? Is it still too early to tell?

I have 3.
2 of them have the golden/brown fathers on their chests and wingtips and a greenish shimmer to some of the feathers. 1 does not have the gold. It has the greenish shimmer to it's back and wing feathers.

What do you all think?

those look like my BSL too. Funny thing, I have one gone broody! Didn't think they did that. Oh, well. Pretty birds anyway!

Thoes are for sure BSL. I have 2 BSL that look just like yours.

So that means that they are all Gals, right? They were pure black at hatch - you can see their "baby pics" in the thread I linked in my first post...

Yes, they are girls. A BSL male would look like a very badly barred BR rooster.

They don't look like a bsl to me. I think they are a gold laced wyandotte. They look just like my girls when they were young. I also have some black sex links that have a little brown in them but not to the extreme of the lacing that these do and I think they are all pullets.

Black Sex-Link, sometimes called black stars. They got it half right.

Their mama was a barred rock.

I think they are very pretty chickens, and very good egg layers. Yes, they can go broody. Mine have gone broody at least once a year, when they were younger.

@dun chick - How can you say they're wyandotte? They don't even have a rosecomb. Heck, the leg color is completely wrong for a gold laced wyandotte.

They are black sex-links and all pullets.

Pecker looked like your two chicks with the most brown - Ebony has just a touch of brown on her chest, like your third chick (4th pic)
