My Basic DIY Incubator

I'm not sure if any of them started developing. I feel like I really should have seen obvious veins at day 10, comparing to other candling pictures, even dark ones. It may just be that I can't see due to my lack of equipment, but it's a little discouraging. I haven't and won't candle them all again until right before lockdown, but it's a bit discouraging, since I'm not seeing what everyone else sees

Guess I'll leave them in until lockdown or until one smells. Hoping at least one or two make it..

I have made smaller incubators before, this one just finished a batch of 6 all 6 hatched, I have a chick in the pic that is a week older than the rest.

NN and frizzles bantams, 4 diff moms.

:( I guess all you can really do is wait until hatch day and see what happens I guess, hopefully something comes out!

@gimmiebirds how well does cardboard work for it??

Just finished doing my 7 day candling and 6/9 are good. 2 had blood rings and one was a clear. The 3 bad eggs were older (6-9 days old) and had temporarily been refrigerated so I'm not surprised.

@torilovessmiles a couple of mine were pretty hard to see veins, I had to look for a while and my eggs aren't even that dark so maybe yours are growing and its just not visible since your eggs are dark! I tried to locate the black eye spot and then I could start seeing some veins.

Thanks for the encouragement! They are shadowy masses in the eggs. Some are larger than others, some appear to float around, some stay put. No matter how hard I look, I can't see the eye, though I have some that I can hardly even see through the shell at all, and I can just barely make out the air cell. If these don't hatch, I'll stick some others in there and try again! haha
