😭😭😭

I know pullets typically lay darker eggs that get lighter over time.... But I'm crossing my fingers it's the OPPOSITE with this girl!! Here's hoping her ink jets are just warming up 😜

Wishing you luck! The ones in the first pic are gorgeous, of course the other one is too.

Similar case with my Cuckoo... I got this Cuckoo Maran named Maisy expecting chocolate eggs, and all she gives me is the regular brown eggs. I have been wondering if she's not pure though. Her legs isn't right color. The most disappointing thing on her is not only does she not lay chocolate, but she's ugly looking too! :hit:hit

Oh no! Double whammy! This lady is *supposed* to be a very reputable breeder.... But I've had nothing but trouble so far with her birds 💔. I drove 4+ hours return to pick them up... Only to get home and discover one had a HORRIBLE case of SLM 💔💔. All three are ridiculously skittish, they very rarely leave the roost... And now this. Sigh. I see her posting far and wide about her top quality birds, and it's getting harder to bite my tongue.
EDITING TO ADD: yikes, I sound awful 🙈. None of this was intentional on her part, she's not a bad breeder or person!! I just got momentarily discouraged. And I meant my last comment to be tongue-in-cheek; I would *never* publicly call someone out!!

It’s terrible when marans do that. Especially when you pay a lot for them but she can’t really help that she lays that color. They’re all pretty eggs though. Do you have any other BCMs? I hope you’ll be able to get some chocolate eggs soon!
Oh 100%!!! I just read my post back and I sound horribly unkind 🙈. I absolutely don't blame for the egg colour!!! It's beyond her control - it's just a bummer! (The scaly leg mites was an honest mistake/oversight, and it's not her fault she lives 2.5 hours away 🤣🤣. It just all kind of added up, and got me a bit down :))

I think hen has to take time to get the color right, I have a welsummer that first laid tan eggs with big red spots, that after her first few, now lays a dark brown with tiny red spots.
