my black australorps look different is one a cockerel?

That first one is a boy. Are the bottoms of his feet yellow? If so, he's a Jersey Giant. Hatcheries seem to think they are interchangable since they are both heavy, black birds that lay brown eggs.

My gosh. My two look nearly identical.
Black Jersey Giants, which are slow to mature, will eventually pass Black Australorps in size and weight, but otherwise the only sure way to tell them apart is by the colors of the bottoms of their feet (obvious yellow = Jersey Giant; whitish/grayish/pinkish = Australorp).
