My boyfriend on silkies...

I have 4 Silkies. Some like to be held others don't. I do have a pen just for my silkies and Cochins because they are smaller. But they do hang out with some of the bigger ones.

Silkies are something either you like or you don't. I had my first Silkie years ago. They can't fly, they can't run well and their sight is limited but there is just something I really do like about them.

I find them strangely compelling, their little alien mushroom minds boring into mine 'love me, feeeeed me, clean the pooop off meeee'. Yep, that sounds like the life for me.

I think they could fly if they want. Blueberry has achieved lift off by vigorously flapping her wings while in one spot. Everytime she does this she gets surprised by it, which is so funny. Cinnimon had lopesided lift the other day while flapping his wings to herd Rita. He was abit confused and tried to pretend nothing happened. My Silkies live in the main coop with other bantams and large fowl. Everyone knows their place and get along with the occassional disputes over roosting, food, and who is momma over that cute baby.

Mrs. Grumpy (Blue Wyandotte hen) is the crankiest gal that they all try to avoid, accept Blueberry who has no problem in correcting Mrs. Grumpy.
