My Breeding Project Blog - Frizzled and Laced Colored Egg Layer

Well, I've been checking fertility. And I am not having luck. Thought I had a broody, but she came off the nest. So I dunno.

How long have they been in the incubator now?

Oh those eggs. Dur. Sorry I'm not feeling well today.

They've been in 2.5? Ish weeks. My friend said I've got 5 Maran and 3 americaunas forming.

And broody was back in her box. Gave her two more eggs. One being from my EE. Everything is from a frizzled rooster. *fingers crossed*

Thank you! My goal is to be up and running by chick season next spring. I do plan on selling once I know the egg color will be there. I've got one blue egg under a broody right now. So provided that's a pullet, I will see what happens with her egg coloring.

I had 4 Marans hatch in a friends bator. So hopefully I will get 1-2 pullets. I found a free broody on CL today and provided she goes back to brooding I will give her those chicks. And start gathering blue eggs and get to incubating!

I've heard they make very good broodies. I may end up with one or two.

My first (bad) job at candling! 4 of 5 had veining, 3 obvious, and 2 had obvious dark spots.

Took the pictures with my phone, so not great, but it's a start!!
